Transitional Housing

Our transitional housing program provides affordable, temporary, emergency housing to community members at risk of absolute homelessness.

About the Program

This 6-month program allows participants time in a safe space to create and implement a plan for their future. This may involve getting legal assistance to separate from a partner, applying for a new job, or furthering their education.

While the time residents spend in transitional housing is still limited, it’s more long-term than an emergency shelter. The additional time allows people an opportunity to process trauma, build their support networks, and take other action within a safe and supportive space to ultimately move them towards more permanent housing.

“I am so blessed and so grateful to be under the wing of this wonderful organization. I reached out to local women’s counselling organizations and was introduced to the amazing people at TNDF. Within two weeks [they] had connected our family to [a temporary apartment]. To know that we have people behind that care, and care so much to help us have our own space while I get back on my feet and heal from my illness and upcoming surgery is such a blessing that will help us for our next chapters. Thank you for taking us under your wing TNDF and giving us a space to nest.”

“Working with Social Services at TNDF has made one of the most difficult experiences I’ve ever gone through so much more bearable. Having help to find an amazing lawyer, lightening the load of separation agreement and being able to call [them] when I had no one else to turn to has made such a difference for me. I’m so grateful to have a support system when feeling so alone.”
