TNDF

Social Services

Formally established in 2023, our Social Services branch goes beyond addressing immediate needs, offering trauma-informed programs and services to support and sustain growth for individuals, families, and the community as a whole.

Transitional Housing

Our transitional housing program provides affordable, temporary, emergency housing to community members at risk of absolute homelessness. This 6-month program allows participants time in a safe space to create and enforce a plan for their future. This may involve getting legal assistance to separate from a partner, applying for a new job, or furthering education.

Practical knowledge
First Aid Workshop
Life Skills Workshops

Through life-skills workshops, we aim to empower all community members by providing them practical knowledge and tools to help them thrive. We bring in subject matter experts to cover a variety of subjects, such as:

Access support
TNDF Main Office
System Navigation, Referrals, and Client Advocacy

We can help you navigate complex systems, register for services, and negotiate better access to resources and benefits.

This can include connecting someone with another agency that can better meet their needs, supporting the completion of official documents, or informing someone on what the process of engaging with a particular agency will look like.

The Essentials
Warm Tootsies Boot Donation
Material Goods

We may be able to provide emergency supplies such as clothing, household essentials, and gift cards based on your unique needs.

Throughout the year, we collaborate with community partners to collect, distribute, and provide essential material goods through programs like Fill A Purse for a Sister and Warm Tootsies.

Winter Warming Station

On cold days, community members can come into our Hub at 16 York Street, Cannington, during our operating hours to grab a drink, use the washroom, charge their phone, and take a brief seat to warm up in the lobby.

If there are no activities taking place in the dining room, folks can stay in the dining room for up to 2 hours or until the space is needed for programming.

For any inquiries about winter warming, contact Beth at beth@tndf.ca or 705-432-2444.
