Community Kitchen
Our community kitchen is at the heart of our food services branch. All of the work our chefs and volunteers do in the kitchen supports all other Food Services programs.
The Heart of Food Services
Our chefs prepare all of the meals, spice blends, and focaccia loaves shared through Nourish House Food Bank and the Mobile Food Market. Everything created in our Community Kitchen is Made with Care.
Made with Care items are prepared, packaged, and labelled by our staff and volunteers. Each purchase at the Mobile Food Market directly supports our organization and helps fund food access programs in our community.
The Community Kitchen also collaborates closely with other team members on food literacy workshops and camps, ensuring essential food-handling skills are taught and applied, and that the food prepared is both nutritious and delicious.
Our kitchen team is always finding creative ways to use edible surplus and reduce waste. Thanks to their care and ingenuity, TNDF generates nearly no food waste, which is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Community Lunch
Each week features a unique menu our in-house chefs and volunteers prepared and served buffet style. We offer this meal on a voluntary donation model to provide everyone with an equal opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal without financial barriers. Seating is family-style, so each week lends itself to a new experience.

- Every Wednesday
- 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Please note that all TNDF buildings are scent free facilities. Please refrain from wearing strong scents or bringing strongly scented items when you visit us.
Community Breakfast
A buffet-style breakfast, family seating, and warm welcomes. Inspired by the ice storm of April 2024, our Community Breakfast responds to a real gap: a place to start your day with food and community. Like Community Lunch, this meal is by donation, so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a hot breakfast without financial barriers.
Made to Share
A Community Recipe Project
This project is grounded in a simple truth: food is meant to be shared here.
Long before TNDF, food was made and shared within the walls of 16 York Street, Cannington (formerly Brandon Bakery). Made to Share celebrates that history; the recipes passed down, brought from afar, or made again and again at home.
We invite you to become part of the living history of this place by sharing a recipe for our Community Meals. This project serves two purposes: to honour the essential act of gathering around food, and to respect the legacy of the building we call the Hub.
Submitted recipes will become part of a growing online library, with one selected each month to be featured at a Community Lunch or Community Breakfast.
Across cultures and generations, people gather to cook, eat, and share. Rooted in care, connection, and belonging, this project is made possible by the community it serves.
Thank you for being part of it 🧡
Recipe Library
Thank you for sharing your recipes and stories with us as part of Made to Share. It is a gift to be trusted with something that holds meaning, memory, and connection. Every recipe we receive helps us learn more about the people who make our community what it is.
Thank you for being part of this project and for helping us make our food spaces more connected, welcoming, and story-filled.

Cindy's Fresh Beet Soup with Yogurt
Adapted from Anne Lindsay’s The Lighthearted Cookbook, this recipe is hearty and tangy, and a great way to enjoy the bounty of root vegetables in the fall at a very affordable price.

Mykala's Rice and Cheese Broccoli Casserole
This is my grandma’s recipe that she serves during every holiday. It reminds me of special memories and makes me think of family in the best of ways. It also tastes amazing

Dana's New York Style Gravy
Absolutely the best soul food – comfort and great memories around the big supper table!

Jess' Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
This is my grandma’s banana chocolate chip muffin recipe that I used to LOVE when I was a kid.
My sister and I framed the handwritten recipe and made it together recently – an activity I highly recommend.

Jess' Blackened Chicken Loaded Caesar Salad
There’s no grand significance to it; we just love Caesar salad and kept layering it up until it became a really hearty meal.
