TNDF
Food Services
Since 2008, community food work has been our bread and butter. In our Food Services branch, we are dedicated to not only alleviating hunger in a dignified and low-barrier way, but also advancing household and community food security.

Emergency Food
Nourish House Food Bank
Nourish House is a shopping-style food bank which means that clients can choose the food they receive based on their needs and preferences.
GOOD FOOD CLOSER TO YOU
Mobile Food Market
In Brock Township and our neighboring communities, a lack of access to affordable and adequate transportation is a key factor contributing to households being food insecure. So – we bring fresh, affordable, and nutritious food right to them!
Support Local
Night Market

FOOD SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Food Literacy Workshops & Camps
Food literacy refers to the knowledge and skills people hold regarding food: how to prepare it safely, how our food systems work as a whole, and everything in between!
We offer a wide variety of food literacy programs for all ages and abilities, often in collaboration with other agencies and subject matter experts. We host programs based on the community’s needs and interests, which means that programs are always changing and growing.
THE HEART OF FOOD SERVICES
Community Kitchen
Much of the work our chefs and volunteers do in the kitchen support all other Food Services programs. They prepare all of the meals, spice-blends, and focaccia that go out through Nourish House Food Bank, Mobile Food Market, and Night Market. They also collaborate closely with other team members on our food literacy workshops and camps, ensuring that essential food handling skills are taught and followed, and that the food prepared is both nutritious and delicious!

Community Lunch
Every Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, you can expect to find our kitchen and dining room buzzing with activity!
Each week features a unique menu our in-house chefs and volunteers prepared and served buffet style. We offer this meal on a voluntary donation model to provide everyone with an equal opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal without financial barriers. Seating is family-style, so each week lends itself to a new experience.
Everyone is welcome! If you can’t stay for lunch, we do provide take-out.
For the plot
Maple Tree Community Garden
Tucked down beside McCaskill’s Mills Public School you’ll find a beautiful allotment-style community garden, with an orchard and berry bushes. Many members have been working on their plots for more than 10 years, and the dedication shows.
Our garden season starts in May and ends in November. Call outs for new garden members usually begin to circulate in February, but community members are welcome to add their name to our list for the following growing year at any time.
Local Seed Exchange
Seed Library
In partnership with Brock Township Public Libraries, we provide seed libraries at each location. The idea is to encourage folks to grow food and collect seeds. Community members can “withdraw” seeds throughout the gardening season, and then make “deposits” of saved seeds if they’re able.
